Explore the work of Ash, a director of FILM and immersive experiences, who merges technology and artistry to redefine storytelling

Ash is a director and creative technologist advancing the frontier of immersive storytelling, where technology, artistry, and human connection converge. With roots in traditional filmmaking, he bridges classic production methods with emerging mediums such as virtual production, immersive cinema, and spatial storytelling.

Recognized as a natural leader and translator on set, Ash excels at connecting creative and technical teams—bridging departments like art and engineering to realize complex, high-value productions with precision and cohesion.

At the University of Southern California’s School of Cinematic Arts, Ash leads virtual production initiatives that merge real-time environments with live performance inside advanced LED and motion-capture volumes. He collaborates with industry leaders including Sony, Epic Games, Nvidia, and Apple to pioneer the workflows shaping the next generation of filmmakers.

Building on a strong foundation in cinematic production, Ash’s recent work explores the power of in-camera VFX, advanced motion capture, LED wall environments, and sophisticated lighting design. By leveraging these evolving tools, he pushes filmmaking beyond convention—crafting transportive experiences that allow audiences to see, hear, and feel worlds otherwise unknown.

His immersive films Winter Reef and Lionfish Tacos have screened at international film festivals, while his 360 film Project Achilles premiered at the Oculus Launch Pad Showcase.

Ash views immersive film as the next evolution of the cinematic empathy engine, a medium that dissolves boundaries between audience and subject. Whether directing within virtual sets or capturing the unseen depths of the ocean, his mission remains constant: to craft cinematic experiences that inspire curiosity, awareness, and awe.
